This post has a few sources of inspiration but stems from one simple desire.
Currently, I'm involved with around 4-5 different writing projects in varying degrees of completion, as well as a few editing projects.
Sometimes these projects do not afford me the opportunity to write "new stuff". I'm rewriting, or building outlines, staying around in a world until the thing sees completion. All stuff that to the neurotic part of my brain sometimes feels more like work than play.
This and a brief mention of Thought Balloons in this week's Two Fisted Homeopape crystallized a few thoughts for me and made me realise I miss just knocking out quick short scripts and hitting "send".
The other call to arms comes from another Thought Balloons connection -- Grant McLaughlin's blog, and what he's been doing with the Think of a City blog posts/scripts.
So, I had an idea to do something similar but was at a loss as to what could be the fuel for a series of one-page comic book scripts.
Them, somewhere (I don't even remember where) I came across this post about the art of Sergey Kolesov and I was struck by the juxtaposition of the fantastical, monstrous and near future reality. Flicking through the images I imagined a multitude of ways I could tell stories based on these images.
So, starting from next Monday and every week after that's what I plan to do.
There are around 59 images on that original post, and maybe Sergey will post more in the interim, so I have a lot of fuel heading forwards.
Let's see where this rocket ship goes.
